What you’ll be doing

  • Managing the InfraOps Team which undertakes a wide variety of challenging support activities
  • Developing, implementing and maintaining our Infrastructure in the UK and overseas
  • Having a key role in formulating company policy and strategy relating to our infrastructure
  • Working closely with our Development Operations (DevOps) and Development teams

You should apply if you are...

  • Experienced at successfully managing a team, delegating tasks and providing clear instructions
  • Very organised and have experience of utilising project management tools and ticketing systems
  • Able to remain calm whilst handling and prioritising critical situations, often under pressure
  • Considerably experienced at running web applications in a large scale environment on Linux, preferably with familiarity in Passenger/Nginx/MySQL
  • Conversant with systems redundancy and approaches to clustering and load-balancing
  • Responsive to alerts through monitoring (we use Zabbix, DataDog, NewRelic & UptimeRobot)
  • Knowledgeable about automation and configuration management such as Chef, Puppet and CFEngine
  • Aware of remote device management, in particular out-of-band management, and have an appreciation
  • of iLO/iLOM/IPMI technologies or indeed, old-fashioned terminal servers
  • You are passionate about cutting edge technology, particularly Open Source projects

It’s a bonus if you have any experience with......

  • Keeping team members motivated, especially during intense periods, e.g. run up to Christmas
  • Encouraging more junior members of staff to take an active role in the work of the department
  • Percona Server, Galera Cluster DB/administration
  • Managing distributed file systems (ideally Ceph)
  • Elasticsearch/Logstash and Solr search engines

  • £40,000 - £65,000 commensurate with skills/experience, possibly more for an exceptional candidate

  • Working closely with our Infrastructure and Development teams
  • Improving and maintaining application deployments and Linux (Ubuntu) server software
  • Using Chef, Docker, Kubernetes & other software to provision machines & deploy applications
  • Researching and implementing new technologies
  • Writing scripts using Ruby and Bash

  • You have significant Linux experience in a server environment
  • You have production experience with varied server software (web servers, databases, etc)
  • You are proficient programming with Ruby or a comparable language

What you’ll be doing

  • Continuing the development of our ordering platforms (Rails) and associated technologies (Ruby)
  • RDeveloping features and fixing bugs
  • Providing backup consultation on tricky client support issues affecting development
  • Feeding customer requirements into the development process and providing projected timescales

  • You are fluent in Ruby and its associated frameworks, with many years commercial Rails experience

What you’ll be doing

  • Communicating with end users of some of the busiest photo websites in the world via phone/email
  • Troubleshooting (and solving!) technical problems and assisting people with general enquiries
  • Escalating only the most complex problems to our software teams... by providing detailed reports

You should apply if...

  • You are highly computer and Internet literate with previous experience in a technical helpdesk team
  • You have significant knowledge of scripting (such as Bash), coding and Linux operating systems
  • You enjoy discovering how to make the most of Open Source software

About LiveLink

LiveLink's products lead the market of retail photo kiosks and online photo ordering systems, recently winning a large international contract with Walmart, USA. A rapidly growing company of around 60 employees based in Havant, LiveLink has moved into impressive new offices in a conservation area. Facilities include breakout areas, a games room, fitness suite, gardens and free on-site employee parking.

LiveLink has developed interactive kiosks and websites which are used by labs and chains to enable their customers to design personalised gifts, cards and posters etc. instore or online using their personal photos. Our Instore product range has been recently merged into one custom-built unit, and we are trialling systems for a number of other retail chains both in the UK and overseas, including ASDA, Jessops, Costco and Walmart.
